I know what you are thinking. Man, I have to clean up my sewing room. I should really sort all these scraps. How on Earth did I get all these scraps? I can’t throw this scrap away, sure, it’s only 2.5″ square. But I might NEED it. And this is good fabric! I can’t just TOSS IT OUT! No! I will keep it for a project one day.
Today is that day! Well, okay, not today. But how about January 12th, 2012? Does that work for you? Hey, that’s not the first of the year! Shouldn’t we be starting then? Maybe. BUT January 12th is a magical day! It’s my birthday! (And, this gives us all time to ACTUALLY sort through the scraps) My birthday gift to you is a super-fun-scrap-busting quilt along with all your Bloggy and Flickr friends! I’m calling it:
Get them out, get ready to sort them and get ready to use them up! Here is the quilt pattern we will be making:
Cool huh? The smallest scrap is 2.5″ square for your reference when sorting. I will be putting the final pattern touches together and of course there will be giveaways and coupons and such from Pink Castle Fabrics!
What’s that? You don’t have scraps? You are still new to quilting? No worries! My shop scraps are OVERFLOWING! I will be making bundles for sale and giveaways. AND this pattern is charm pack friendly! (the lap size shown uses 4 charm packs) Don’t worry if you are a quilting fledgling this pattern is easy enough for a beginner!
I know, I know. You are just as excited as I am! Here’s a button for your blog:

This is so tempting!
Can’t wait! Just got a new Viking Sapphire for Christmas and have a huge bag o scraps just waiting for a project like this. Count me in!
LOl, love your blog button/icon! I love this idea, but I have to think about it. I have 2 scrap quilts already in the works. Not that I don’t have more scraps to work with, haha! It’s on my maybe list!
Brenda, this is perfect in so many ways. My scraps are out of control, I have a long weekend coming up to clean up my sewing room and start sorting scraps, AND January 12 is a great start-date. (Oh, and the quilt pattern is super cute–bonus!) Can’t wait to get started!
Ack, I must admit I really do toss most of my scraps…unless it’s something super precious. I’m working on too many projects right now, but am looking forward to seeing what you guys are making!
LOL…I’ll just send along a shipping envelope with postage and my address on there….you can use it as your scrap bag and just mail it off when it’s full! 😉
toss your scraps!!!!! oh my….i must have a problem i keep them if they are 2 inches or more.
Brenda, your quilt design is awesome! So clever!! I’m not sure I can commit to the quilt-along, but I will give it serious thought between now and then.
ok – I’m a sucker for scrap quilts so I’m in!
I needed something to kick my butt in gear and use up the plethora of scraps overtaking my sewing area… I think this just might be the KICK! Count me in!
I’m in…way too many scraps!! I have a king-sized quilt project I must do in January, so I may be a bit slow with this QAL, alternating between the two projects as I will be, but I’ll be following along the best I can.
I’m tempted just because I love the name!
Count me in, Brenda! I have self-declared 2012 as the Year of the Scrap Quilt…this will be a great start!
Oooo, can I start yet another quilt lol?!
Love the design and love scrap quilts, so I’m in!
Oh I am so tempted now that the craziness of Christmas sewing is over! And my scraps are sorted into boxes by colour so it might be quite straightforward!
I’m really tempted, the pattern is just wonderful. I think this is the perfect project for this new year :). I do not have many scraps just a little bag.Well count me in! I will keep an eye at your scrap bags sale
I’m intrigued, but do we have to wait until the 12th for cutting directions? Maybe we could have those early?? PLEASEEEEE?? I’m going in for some surgery so would love to have the cutting directions sooner if possible so I can just sew. Looks like fun!!!
I am so in!!! I have been thinking about doing this, and this pattern is awesome!
I’m totally in! Although, I’d have more scraps if I’d actually COMPLETE one project before starting the next!! 🙂
I really like the pattern you chose. And Pink Castle 🙂
Count me in, just what I need.
Well I have lots of scraps that I need to use so count me in!
I’m seriously considering this one. My only worry is that I’m using my scraps to make my Farmer’s Wife quilt and I may not have enough for both. I’m sure I’ll figure something out though. I need to make a bigger dent in this scrap bin!
I’m in. 😉
I really am thinking about this….I have never done anything like this….maybe, just maybe.
I thinking will have to join in. It looks like a lot of fun.
Count me in, cause I gotta lotta scraps yo!
I am quite interested in joining this QAL, but as a college student majoring in Interior Design, and I start next week on Monday the 9th. This is soooooooo tempting. I have my scraps organized by colour, and I’ve been hoarding this Terrain by Katie Spain charm pack for about two or three months! I have yet to finish piecing along blocks for my mother’s quilt. Ahh! I’ll mull on this for a few days, then.
Oooh. That’s a cutie. I’m tempted to make one as a baby quilt gift.

I’m very excited about this one! I was just thinking that I am getting quite a bit of scraps and what should I do with them. You answered my question. Thanks! I’m looking forward to following you along on this stash busting project (and I love the pattern, too!).
Love this 🙂 Will have to join in at some point!
This looks fun!
I am tempted to join but not sure if I got enough scraps for this Quilt Along…
LOve, love love this pattern! I am really loving scrap quilts right now–but I do wish I had more scraps to use. I haven’t quilted in about six years–and then only made one quilt top and a couple wall hangings….though I have always taken scraps from my MIL. I can’t wait to play!

I just saw this on another friends site (button) I would so love to make this but using 1.5″ squares – yes I save that small.
